Challenges In Evaluation

 INTRODUCTION:

Teachers suffered immensely during the pandemic. They neither had proper gadgets to make their online classes interactive nor they had exposure to learn technology and apply to make their classes effective. In spite of it, many teachers gave their best to create conducive learning environment. This blog is adaptation of teachers to online environment and evaluation strategies.

WHITE BOARD CHALLENGE:

During pandemic, teachers struggled to teach their students through online. For example, a teacher in India, was struggling to teach her students without whiteboard. She made a genius idea to solve her problem. She placed her mobile phone on top of two tumblers and focused her camera to the floor. There on the floor she placed a bunch of papers and wrote on it so that her students can understand the lessons even better. This shows to that teachers went through a lot while teaching through online.

EXAMS ONLINE:

The next drawback was that on how to assess the kid and how to evaluate them. For instance, when I was attending online classes during COVID-19, the teachers sent us the question paper through an educational and parental app called Neverskip. We had to write the exam in paper as usual in front of our parents. After completing the test, we had to take clear pictures of the answer sheets and upload it within the given time. The main disadvantage was that, in many homes, parents did not have enough time to sit with their children during exams. So taking advantage, the children referred to their books or Google to write the answers. Thus, the exams conducted through online could not test the child's knowledge.

ONLINE EVALUATION:

Teachers had a hard time correcting the answer sheets. Since the answers were uploaded to them as photos, it was very difficult for them to correct the answers. Many teachers were using mobiles and since the screen was too small for them to read the answers clearly. They also used online applications to correct their answersheet. Staring at the screen for too long caused eye strains and headaches. Also, since the exams conducted could not test the child's knowledge, it was difficult for them to take them to next level. Another sad thing was that, in many houses parents themselves told the answers and taught them what to write in the answer sheet, which I felt very bad.

CONCLUSION:

Online Evaluation stay crucial for the teachers. Since the exams conducted could not show the real ability of the student, a wide gap was created. This can be seen evidently after the pandemic.
